SOZO® Digital Health Platform
Developed by ImpediMed®, the SOZO® Digital Health Platform is a medical device used to measure and monitor cancer-related lymphoedema using bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS). This technology can accurately detect lymphoedema in subclinical stages when initiated early in your recovery. The recommended treatment guideline suggests a baseline L-Dex score (given by the unit) to allow a comparison measure for your rehabilitation journey.
The score is given along a range of -10.0 - +10.0, and an L-Dex value of 6.5 or more from the baseline is an indication of lymphoedema development in the affected limb/s, even when this is still unrecognisable by physical signs or symptoms. Earliest recognition of developing lymphoedema (ideally before invasive treatment) allows for the best treatment and further prevention to take place, such as custom garment fittings, physiotherapy and home management. The recording of an L-Dex value takes 30 seconds and is completely painless.
As you stand on the SOZO, your hands and feet rest on plates with embedded electrodes emitting 256 low-frequency currents through your body to measure the fluid inside your cells (intracellular) in comparison to the fluid in the tissues surrounding (extracellular). It compares the readings from your ‘at-risk’ limb to the control (your non-affected limb). By tracking changes in the L-Dex value over time, our talented team can monitor your recovery and identify trends, allowing for personalised treatment and improved outcomes.
